After two years of this Crisafulli LNP Government, northsiders now have their chance to make their voices heard. This is our opportunity to make the Government listen and demand a real plan to tackle the rising cost of living.
Whether you’re a renter or a homeowner, we all know the cost of living isn’t getting any easier.
So why is the Crisafulli LNP Government making it harder for Stafford locals to find an affordable place to live?
By scrapping the requirement for 15% affordable housing in state-facilitated developments, the LNP has chosen a path that QShelter warns risks ‘delivering more market housing that remains out of reach for low and moderate income households.
Stafford deserves a real plan for housing, not just more market-rate housing that leaves locals behind.
Every Queenslander has the right to return home healthy and safe. But the Crisafulli LNP Government is already preparing to weaken the very laws that protect us on the job.
The LNP’s plan risks removing the right to stop unsafe work and stripping away protections against deadly hazards like silica dust.
At a time when Stafford families are already feeling the pinch of skyrocketing costs, we cannot afford a government that is willing to risk our safety and our livelihoods.
This by-election on May 16th is our chance to send a message: our safety is not for sale.
Whether it’s a local hospital bed or a desk in a classroom, Stafford families deserve essential services they can rely on.
But right now, our community’s future is being put at risk by decisions that prioritise political games over local needs.
Protecting the Prince Charles Hospital
The Prince Charles Hospital is the heart of our local healthcare, yet the Crisafulli LNP Government has already put an expansion that would deliver over 90 new beds on the chopping block.
This by-election is a chance to demand that the expansion stays, because our community’s health is not negotiable.
Putting Our Schools First
Queensland teachers are currently working to secure a real plan to address key concerns around classroom violence and severe staff shortages and attrition, but the Crisafulli LNP Government just isn’t listening.
At the same time, a rising number of teacher aides and cleaners say they are being physically and verbally assaulted by students in Queensland schools, with staff warning their safety is being compromised by inadequate training and resources.
With the Crisafulli LNP Government refusing to work with teachers to solve this crisis and working on winding back the workplace health and safety laws that protect teachers, students, and staff in our classrooms, this by-election is our opportunity to send a message to the Government telling them to get back to the table.
Did you know that David Crisafulli and the LNP frontbench:
David Crisafulli has already lost control of his party on this issue, putting reproductive healthcare for Queensland women under threat.
Women’s right to choose what happens with their bodies is at risk under the LNP.
Women’s health choices are a human right we must protect.
Queenslanders deserve a real plan to tackle the rising cost of living, not just more pressure on the family budget. Whether it’s the price of the weekly shop, skyrocketing energy bills, or the cost of getting to work, Stafford families are feeling the pinch.
Whether it’s the end of energy bill relief, the 24% hike in rego, or the Government’s failure to consider real help the cost of fuel, the Crisafulli LNP Government has let us down.
This by-election is our one opportunity to send a message to the government. Stafford has had enough of being priced out of their own community. Before you vote, ask yourself: which candidate has a real plan for affordability, and who is just making it harder for local people to get ahead?
